 Meet some of the Artisans...

Heather Layton
Proprietor of Bungalow Love and A Mermaids Purse Jewelry. Nature inspires me and I show that through my jewelry. Every since I was little, I was always 'creating' and thankfully, my mother fostered that creativeness. My first pieces of wearable art I created when I was very little, gluing seashells to ribbon and making bracelets and necklaces! I have since progressed from Elmer’s glue to soldering and sterling silver opposed to ribbons. Jewelry making soothes my soul. I grew up in Berlin, on Williams St in a little yellow Bungalow.

Elizabeth Cosby
Elizabeth Cosby was born and raised in downtown Berlin. After graduating from Stephen Decatur High School she majored in fine art at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Elizabeth then spent the next few years in New York City attending the School of Visual Arts where she received her Masters of Fine Art in painting. Her natural love for the ocean in combination with her knowledge of art making formed the idea for her line of seashell rings. She returned to the Eastern Shore and worked out of her garage studio here in Berlin where the first shell rings were produced. All boxes and print material are designed and screen printed by Elizabeth herself. She has recently moved to Sarasota, Florida where she combs the beaches and dives in the local waters for shells to carve.

Rachel Borello
Designer and toymaker of Yarnigans Toys. I've been making toys ever since I was a little kid, and I was lucky enough to have a mother who kept a house full of craft supplies to keep me busy. She taught me to crochet as a pretty young child, and I learned to knit in college. I was always drawn to knitting and crocheting toys, so I started designing my own patterns some time in 2005. I now live in Salisbury, Maryland with an awesomely supportive husband and a three-year-old son, and soon we will be joined by a baby girl.

![Kristin Mallery Hooks : Hearts Happen is a collection of found hearts. No hearts are set up, altered or injured in the making of Hearts Happen.
I grew up in Salisbury MD. After graduating from Syracuse, I moved to Boston. I started capturing images of hearts back in 2003; if I had a camera with me, I would photograph it, and file it away under ‘hearts’. Long story short, some friends got a peek at the hearts and insisted I do something with them. I took their advice and pitched my hearts to a restaurant and my first [Valentine's] show was booked! The show was a hit; the Boston Globe and WBUR, Boston’s NPR station picked up the story and Hearts Happen was born. In 2008, hearts 'happened' in my world and I re-met a friend from elementary school, right here in Berlin. I moved home and we married in May 2010! (The heart titled ' Hearts Happened' was our wedding invitation, and is now available in limited editions to the public) Kristin Mallery Hooks](124_200_csupload_27460179.jpg?u=2711133944) |

Eric Millen
"I started painting ocean art in 2007 to pursue my love for art and beach life. In my paintings and children's books I hope to capture some of the endless energy and incredible sights of the beach and ocean."
